American Airlines falls to $2.2b loss in first quarter

American Airlines has reported a first-quarter net loss of $2.2 billion, or $5.26 per share. “Never before has our airline, or our industry, faced such a significant challenge,” said American Airlines chief executive, Doug Parker.
